Another night of elimination. Another shocker.
Ok, so most of us weren't surprised Phil Ritchie was in Rockstar Supernova's bottom three on Wednesday night. I just didn't expect him to make an early exit in the competition after this week's elimination performance.
So instead of bidding adieu to Zarya Alvarez, she somehow escapes yet another week of elimination and will live on to sing another day.
Joining Zayra and Phil in the Week 4 elimination round was Patrice Pike, somewhat of a surprise to the bottom three. She certainly didn't disappoint as Josh Logan did on Tuesday, but the people spoke, and it was up to Patrice to keep herself alive.
She did, blowing the gang away with a stellar rendition of Radiohead's "My Iron Lung," moving from main stage, through the crowd and back, never losing her sense of excitement. Guitarist Gilby Clarke said it was one of her best performances yet and said she'll back next week.
Zayra, again, missed the boat in my opinion, doing a stripped down (with electric guitar) version of K's Choice's "Not an Addict." Not a stellar performacnce from the singer, but not her worst. (Certainly better than her Blondie cover Tuesday night.)
This left, what I believed, was Phil's opportunity to steal another week. Jason Newsted and company said, "make us a believer again," and he was lights out covering a personal favorite, "Smoking Umbrellas" by Failure.
In the end, the group didn't think Phil's heart was in it and sent him on his way.
Storm Large got the week's encore over Lukas and a few other worthy competitors, rocking out again (without the stagedive) of Dramarama's "Anything, Anything."
Who's next to go? Who will shine in Week Five?
See you next Tuesday for more music and elimination on Rockstar: Supernova.
